Barcode 2000™

Version 7.5 for UNIX, Linux and Windows servers

BARCODE 2000™ server-based software from Unibar prints barcoded shipping, RFID, and other production labels on most thermal printers, using data piped directly from standard applications and databases. It is ideal for single-server systems as well as for large users and VARs who support multiple platforms or printers.

BARCODE 2000™ is high-performance, multi-platform, enterprise-wide software that requires no special print servers or other dedicated hardware. It operates virtually transparently with respect to applications that furnish label data.

The WYSIWYG user interface means non-programmers can easily create professional labels with bar codes, graphics and RFID encoding.

BARCODE 2000™ includes WYSIWYG and navigation capabilities that allow most new users to design and print a label in less than 5 minutes!

BARCODE 2000™ runs on any platform and label "templates" can be designed on any system with Java 2. There is no need for any new hardware or networking. This is the most efficient and cost-effective way to add dynamic label printing to your applications.

The newest release of BarCode 2000™ labeling software, version 7.5, includes numerous improvements and upgrades to make the user experience more rich and fulfilling, as well as easier to use. Our focus has been on the customer. Both the novice and experienced user were considered. From the new look and feel of the Graphical User Interface, to the new service-oriented 'Help->About' dialog, BarCode 2000™ v7.5 has been revised.

Powerful printing capabilities including RFID
Version 7.5 adds extensive RFID support to make it easy for users to meet the requirements of Wal-Mart and DOD for smart labels.

More than 200 printer models now supported
BARCODE 2000 works with printers from Datamax, Intermec, Sato, and Monarch, Zebra and many others (see list on other side). Unibar provides native printer drivers for all printers supported, including laser printers.

Compatible with Applications and Databases
BARCODE 2000 easily, seamlessly uses data from existing applications and databases: in-house, SAP, Oracle, Informix, Progress, Baan, etc. XML, a Java method ‘FormatLabels()’, in addition to command line.

Provides 1D and 2D barcodes
BARCODE 2000 supports common 1D and 2D symbologies plus EPC and other RFID formats that meet the needs of most shipping and compliance labels

Java™ design tools and Java Printing Interface
BARCODE 2000 provides a simple method for printing labels from a Java application or a PL/SQL script. The Java method ‘FormatLabels()’ is is provided. ‘FormatLabels()’ takes parameters to specify the label template, the data to be merged, the print destination and several options such as number of copies. It encapsulates the details of execution of the Label Formatter program.

Unique tool set
BARCODE 2000 comes with a Label Data Dictionary for easy data field definition and changes. A Data Entry Utility provides for immediate label printing from screen input after designing a new label.

High performance
The Label Formatter print engine is written in ANSI C for low overhead on your system software and hardware resources.

e-Version available
If you need labels in remote locations not connected to your in-house network, e-BARCODE 2000 is a great choice! Also a server-based solu-tion, it uses the same design tools as BARCODE 2000 and produces graphic images that can be viewed and printed from an Internet browser anywhere in the world.

Module descriptions
For ease of use, a new user interface integrates the Label Designer, Label Data Dictionary and Configuration modules. BARCODE 2000 modules provide the capabilities to design labels, print batches of labels from appli-cations by piping (sending) data or files to the Label Formatter, and create “on-demand” labels.

Label designer
Creates the label “templates.” BARCODE 2000 lets you integrate 1D and 2D barcodes, data, text, boxes, lines and other graphics. Click-and-select menus make it easy to modify designs and adjust font, size, density and height. Labels are displayed in WYSIWYG format.  Designing RFID smart labels takes just a few more clicks.

Label data dictionary editor
Defines label data fields such as part number, ship quantity, or ship to company. Fields can be used as needed in one or more templates.

Configuration module
Defines data pipes, printers and printer addresses, and sets additional operating parameters.

Label formatter
Provides data mapping and printing services. Send or pipe data directly from a program or file to this module and the labels print! Label name, quantity of labels to print and variable data fields are included in each record. Multiple label types can be processed at the same time. Labels can be generated by directly piping data to the Formatter or by creating a file and shelling out to the Formatter. Programs can also write to a file and initiate the label printing when the labels are needed.

Additional Features

  • Merge text, data, date and time, graphics and counter fields
  • Easily adjust font, size, density and height
  • Rotate individual text, data or barcode fields 90, 180 or 270 degrees
  • Rotate the entire label for printing
  • Preview print image
  • Print labels directly from applications or data files
  • Use PCX and other graphic images
